Larry Starns - Of Counsel

Larry Starns’ practice consists primarily of counseling and representing individual and business clients on matters involving contracts (including IT), regulatory compliance (including Data Security, Environmental, Transportation and Telecommunications) law matters.

He is admitted to practice in the States of Minnesota and Illinois, the U.S. District Court (4th District, Minnesota) and the U.S. Court of Appeals (8th Circuit).

Larry has approximately 30 years of experience practicing law in large and small corporate law departments, large and small law firms and in state government. His roles have included in-house counsel handling business and regulatory law matters, private practitioner, public law attorney representing several state regulatory agencies.

These include positions with a small title insurance firm, the State of Minnesota Office of Attorney General, Soo Line Railroad Company / Canadian Pacific Railway, the law firm of Leonard, Street and Deinard (Minneapolis, MN) of Rea, Cross and Auchincloss (Washington, D.C.), Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, Wells Fargo Bank N.A., McDATA Corporation (Broomfield, CO) and Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (San Jose, CA).

Larry also serves as Board Chair for the SLCU Credit Union in Minneapolis, a $47MM non-profit financial institution, and has served on its Board of Directors for 21 years. He has also participated in community organizations focused on historic and residential preservation and noise abatement.

Larry’s strengths include a broad base of experience and skills to draw upon when serving your needs. He possesses keen insight and judgment honed from many years of practice in many different settings. His practice areas have included real estate law, federal and state administrative law, transportation law, telecommunications law, environmental law, higher education law, intellectual property and technology law, data and systems security, intellectual property creation, transfer and preservation.

Larry’s personal interests include being a hockey parent, outdoor sports, cooking, music, playing guitar and restoring his old house.
